CONEBI and CIE Extend their condolences on the passing of industry leader Moreno Fioravanti

Brussels, 19 February 2024 – It is with deep sorrow that CONEBI and CIE mourn the
passing o
f industry leader Moreno Fioravanti who peacefully passed away on 17 February at the age of 62. Moreno Fioravanti was a charismatic and visionary leader who made historical contributions to the European bicycle industry. Moreno had been active in European and national industry associations since the 1990s.

He was President of Coliped (the European association representing the Parts & Accessories Industries at EU level), Member of the CONEBI Working Groups, represented Accell Group also at the founding and on the board of CIE and was President of the European Bicycle Manufacturers Association (EBMA).

His unwavering commitment, expertise, and passion for advancing the industry and influenced those around him.

Erhard Büchel, CONEBI President, said: “I have no words to describe the shock I got from receiving such a terrible news. Moreno has been, first of all, my personal friend for more than 38 years. I feel deep sorrow and I still cannot realize that I will not see him anymore. Moreno has also been what I would call ‘’family’’: his loss is therefore immense in our hearts.

“We have a strong and sustainable bicycle industry in Europe: most of the merits go to him and his efforts to support all of us were essential in what we achieved for the Industry during the last years.

“Moreno, thank you very much for all you have done. We will never forget you.”

Toni Grimaldi, CIE President, said: “Moreno was a valued friend and colleague who I have known for over 25 years, both within our companies and in our shared work for our trade associations.

“Moreno had a passion for this industry and he valued everyone who worked here. He was fiercely loyal to his colleagues and the companies he worked with, creating long-term relationships built on trust and friendship.

“He has always been a strong and valuable support for CIE since the beginning and his spirit will always be around us. We are thankful to Moreno for all the engagement and the work he has done for our industry.”

Manuel Marsilio, CONEBI General Manager, said“Moreno represented, and will continue to represent, one of the most inspiring leaders I have ever met in my life, both from a professional and human perspective. It has been a unique privilege and honour to learn from him. He will always be with us.‘’

Kevin Mayne, CIE Chief Executive Officer, said“Moreno was there on the day I started working with the European level of the cycling industries and he was here in our shared offices just this week, so I feel he has been ever-present in the development of CIE and its predecessor, the ECF Cycling Industry Club.

“Nobody could have been more generous of his time and knowledge in helping us build up the associations and sharing his contacts, and in that time he has become a trusted friend. I will miss his support and council deeply.”

The associations extend their condolences to his wife Sonia and the whole family during this difficult time. May Moreno Fioravanti rest in peace, remembered as a trailblazer and visionary in the European bicycle industry.

Moreno’s family have expressed their wish that well-wishers and friends leave messages and memories on a condolence board here, where there are messages from other association Board members.
